School Wide Positive Behaviour Support
School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) is a framework that brings together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning cultures.
At Gladesville Primary School, we are committed to creating a safe, positive and predictable learning environment where every student can succeed. We use a whole-school approach known as School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) to promote consistent expectations, explicitly teach positive behaviours and support all students to make successful choices.
SWPBS is built on the understanding that behaviour, like academic learning, needs to be taught, practised and reinforced. At Gladesville, we explicitly teach our core values—Respect, Kindness, Gratitude and Persistence—and provide students with clear, consistent expectations across all areas of the school. This shared language helps students understand what is expected of them and supports a calm and orderly environment for learning.
Our staff model and reinforce these behaviours every day, recognising students when they demonstrate our values and providing support when they need guidance. This proactive approach helps prevent challenges before they arise and ensures all students feel safe, supported and ready to learn.
We value strong partnerships with families and believe that working together is key to student success. By reinforcing these values at school and at home, we can support students to develop the social, emotional and behavioural skills they need to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.
