Frequently Asked Questions
We hope these FAQs have been helpful, but we also encourage families to book a school tour. Meeting you and your child allows us to provide more personalised information about our programs, supports and opportunities, and how we can best support your child’s individual needs and interests.
Gladesville PS offers a “Small School, Big Opportunities” experience. Our smaller size means we know every child well and build strong relationships with students, families andthe wider community.
We combine evidence-based teaching with a strong focus on wellbeing, helping students feel safe, supported and successful. Students also enjoy a wide range of opportunities including Kitchen Garden, Performing Arts, camps, sport, leadership and whole-school events.
We work closely with families to ensure every child feels safe, confident and excited about beginning their learning journey.
We provide a range of transition opportunities throughout the year, including:
Regular transition sessions where children become familiar with classrooms, teachers, specialist subjects and school routines
A special Teddy Bears’ Picnic to finish the transition program, where students meet and spend time with their new buddies
A supportive Buddy Program that helps Prep students build confidence, friendships and a sense of belonging
A Starting School Social Story to help children understand school life
Preschool engagement opportunities throughout the year prior to starting school, including Play & Learn sessions and Bookaburra Storytime, helping children become familiar with our staff and environment before they begin school
We believe every child can succeed and we provide support and challenge based on each student’s needs. Teachers continually monitor learning and provide targeted support, intervention and classroom adjustments where needed.
Students who require extension are challenged through differentiated learning, enrichment opportunities and leadership experiences. We work closely with families to ensure every child feels supported and successful.
Please refer to the MTSS page of our website for more detail about our framework.
At Gladesville Primary School, student wellbeing and positive relationships are a high priority. Through our whole-school approach, we explicitly teach students how to show kindness, respect and empathy, and how to build positive relationships with others.
We understand that friendship issues and conflicts can sometimes occur. When they do, we work closely with students to help them understand the impact of their actions, repair relationships and learn positive ways to resolve problems.
We take all reports of unkind behaviour seriously and are committed to providing a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and respected.
One of the greatest strengths of Gladesville Primary School is our close-knit community. Our smaller size means every child is truly known, valued and supported by staff and by others in the community.
Students benefit from strong relationships with teachers and peers, a calm and inclusive environment, and personalised support tailored to their needs. Small class sizes also allow teachers to know students as learners and provide targeted support and extension.
Our students have many opportunities to participate, lead and be involved across all areas of school life.
