At Gladesville Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people are our highest priority. We have a zero tolerance for child abuse and are dedicated to providing a secure, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

 

We are committed to creating a child-safe and child-friendly environment. One where children feel safe, are genuinely safe, and have the confidence and opportunity to have their voices heard when decisions impact them. We pay particular attention to the cultural safety of First Nations children, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and children with a disability.

 

Every member of our school community, staff, volunteers, families, and students, plays a vital role in safeguarding children. We share an unwavering duty to ensure that the wellbeing and protection of our students are central to all our practices and decisions. In our planning, operations, and decision-making, Gladesville Primary School will:

• Adopt a proactive, preventative, and inclusive approach to child safety.

• Empower students to engage in decisions affecting their lives.

• Foster transparency, encouraging all members of the school community to speak up if they suspect harm.

• Respect diversity and cultural differences, while keeping child safety at the forefront.

• Provide clear guidance on appropriate behaviour toward children through a robust code of conduct.

• Engage and support only staff and volunteers best suited to work with children, through rigorous recruitment, supervision, and professional learning.

• Ensure students know whom to turn to if they feel unsafe and feel encouraged to raise any concerns.Promptly report any suspected abuse or neglect to relevant authorities.

• Share information appropriately and lawfully to protect children's safety and wellbeing.

• Partner closely with families and carers, valuing their perspectives and communicating regularly.
