Developmental Play in Prep
Once or twice a week, our Foundation students take part in Developmental Play during the afternoon. These carefully planned sessions help children make the transition from preschool to primary school while continuing to build the knowledge and skills they need for learning.
Through purposeful play, students practise oral language skills, through speaking and listening, explaining their ideas and asking questions.
They learn to share, take turns, work with others and solve problems. They also explore, investigate and test their thinking.
Teachers guide the play, introduce new learning and observe each child’s progress, connecting these experiences to the Foundation curriculum.
