Fruit & Veg Garden Swap

To coincide with the launch of the Gladesville Garden - our new kitchen garden - we have launched a monthly Fruit & Veg Garden Swap. The swap will be held on the first Friday of each month (except January), 3:45 - 4:30pm, everyone is welcome - and it's free!

It's a great way to connect with the local community and share excess produce from your garden. If you don't have anything to share you're still welcome to attend - just like the seasons, in our gardens sometimes we have a lot to share and sometimes we only have a little.

Bring along any excess from your garden: fruit, vegetables, herbs, cuttings, plants, seedlings, seeds, eggs, flowers, worm wee or compost tea - anything you've grown or produced in your home garden. If there is excess produce from the Gladesville Garden, we'll be sharing that too! If it's good enough for you, it's good enough to swap.

Any excess at the end of each swap will be donated to the Food is Free Kilsyth cupboard (outside 41 Beatrice St Kilsyth).

The first swap was held last week, and despite the intermittent torrential rain, it was a huge success! The students and their younger siblings enjoyed munching on some locally grown snow peas and baby carrots. We swapped leeks, rhubarb, lettuce, carrots, silverbeet, Asian greens, parsley, sage, perennial basil, strawberry plants, duck eggs, succulent cuttings, rosemary, lemons, limes, grapefruit, broccolini, seeds, compost worms, indoor plants and more!

The next swap will be on November 4th 2022.
